Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking a Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of fleet equipment across campus locations. Candidates should be able to work independently or with a team and adapt to evolving automotive technologies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related training and at least one year of related repair experience, plus diagnostic skills in automotive trades.

About this role

Responsible for maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various fleet and equipment. Performs troubleshooting, preventative maintenance to ensure operational readiness across all campus locations. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
  • One year of related experience repairing engine-powered vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnostic experience in automotive trades
Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
  • Automotive and equipment repair
  • Analyzing relevant information to solve problems
  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to:
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet operational goals
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Adapt to evolving automotive technologies
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
  • Regular physical attendance required
  • Motor Vehicle A/C certification obtained within 90 days of employment

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $21.44/ hr, however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
