Job summary

Medix in Northbrook, Illinois seeks a QC Lab Technician to perform hands-on laboratory and beverage application work in a flavor laboratory. You will prepare, test, package and ship samples while following formulations, safety standards and GLP.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable with small quantities and lab equipment, and capable of juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced setting. On-site role with growth opportunities in beverage applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare finished beverage products using flavor formulations for internal laboratory projects and client applications
• Screen and compound flavor samples for customers, chemists, applications, QC, regulatory teams and others
• Interpret flavor formulations and develop procedures to prepare required samples
• Accurately measure and work with small quantities of flavors, ingredients and raw materials
• Perform beverage and flavor testing, including Brix, titratable acidity, specific gravity and other parameters
• Clean, sanitize, sterilize, assemble and operate lab and pilot-scale equipment
• Perform lab processes such as extractions, pasteurization, compounding and sample preparation
• Maintain inventory of raw materials and lab supplies for daily projects
• Prepare, fill, package, label and ship samples per procedures
• Review sample requests and ensure required documentation with shipments
• Maintain records of samples prepared and lab activities
• Print, organize and secure flavor formulation and batch documentation
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe laboratory environment
• Follow GLP and company safety policies
• Communicate project status and priorities with lab leadership and team
• Manage multiple projects and changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and deadlines
• Collaborate with Director of Beverage Lab or Senior Director of Technical Services to monitor ongoing work
