Job summary

CMC is hiring for a Truck Driver to join our logistics team in the Georgia region. The role requires a valid Class A CDL and 1+ year of tractor-trailer experience, with preference for flatbed OT experience.

You will deliver products to customers and jobsites, perform safety inspections, and maintain accurate logs while following DOT rules. The position involves 12-hour shifts, potential overtime, and a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver License.
  • At least 1 year of verified tractor-trailer experience (3 years flatbed OTR preferred).
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Complete delivery paperwork accurately and coordinate with production, sales, and customers.
  • Follow safety rules and wear PPE; drive safely and comply with regulations.
  • Drive to weigh stations, document weights, and ensure proper loading and securement.
  • Inspect vehicle for defects; perform pre-trip, inter-trip, and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle status; operate with ELD as trained.
  • Deliver products to customers, contractors, and jobsites within geographic region.

What You\'ll Do
  • Accurately complete corresponding delivery paperwork and work with production, sales and customers to communicate issues with loads and delivery time
  • Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations
  • Ensure vehicle is properly loaded and load secured and product is delivered safely and timely
  • Ability to inspect vehicle(s) for any safety or operational defects using DOT, maintenance, and safety checklists and ensuring emergency equipment is in proper working order
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Loading truck may require: securing chains across the width of a trailer to secure the product, both on the bed of a trailer and in an overhead rack, tarping of loads on trailers, and dropping and hooking a trailer
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends and holidays
  • Performs daily Pre-Trip, Inter-Trip, and Post Trip Inspections.
  • Responsible for the delivery of products to customers, contractors, and jobsites throughout the location geographic region
  • Set up a sideboard kit around the perimeter of the trailer floor
  • Use of Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) during operation of vehicle; driver will be trained accordingly
  • Perform additional duties as needed
What You\'ll Need
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • No DUI/DWI within the past five years
  • No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 3 years
  • Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs
  • Driver must be knowledgeable in D.O.T. Regulations/Requirements
  • Frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs/ladders, works with chains, drops and hooks trailers, performs inspections and reaches to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Must be willing to learn and tackle new challenges
  • Must have effective listening and verbal skills to identify important information and to engage with internal and external customers
  • Must speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
  • No on-road preventable accidents during the past (3) years as shown on the Motor Vehicle Road (MVR); accidents are reviewed by CMC Logistics
  • Pass required D.O.T. and CMC Logistics drug testing programs and physicals as required by D.O.T.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License required
  • At least 1 year of verified tractor-trailer experience (3 years flatbed OTR preferred)
  • Work well with team members or independently; give and receive feedback in a constructive manner

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
