Job description

Job Summary

Truck Driver is responsible for the operation of vehicles less than 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, to deliver goods to customers and operations, and to pick up material from vendors and other operations.

Hourly Pay Range: $18-$21 dependent on experience*

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Safely drives on the road delivering products in various weather conditions
  2. Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspection sheets
  3. Inspects equipment to ensure safe operating conditions – checks oil and fuel prior to leaving the yard
  4. Secures load and/or inspects load to ensure has been properly secured
  5. Performs duties consistent with all applicable safety, DOT and Company rules
  6. Conducts preventive maintenance to truck and ensures truck is clean
  7. Maintains appropriate driving records, logs, and shipping documents as required
  8. Maintains radio/telephone and EOB Electronic On-Board System contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or to be dispatched to new locations
  9. Verifies shipping documents for accuracy, and obtains customer’s signature on paperwork upon delivery
  10. Completes paperwork as required
  11. May operate a forklift to load/unload trailers as required
  12. Follows forklift rules and policies as described by Company policy
  13. Completes training as required by management
  14. Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
  15. Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  1. Must be 21 years of age
  2. Minimum 12th grade basic education completed
  3. Minimum 1 year of experience driving a vehicle of less than 26,001 lbs; preferable 3 to 5 years of experience driving a commercial vehicle
  4. Working knowledge of vehicle parts, and how to handle minor repairs to ensure equipment is in proper operating conditions
  5. Required to have a valid Class D Driver’s License
  6. Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process
