What We Do

Search public records and examine titles to determine the legal condition of property titles, primarily for residential properties. Copy or summarize recorded documents affecting the condition of title to the property. These roles may be found in production center or branch office environments. Work flow is typically determined by geographic practices. In some cases, the Title Examiner gathers information and creates a commitment of title before passing it to a Title Officer.

Works independently and uses experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

1. Performs title examination and examines the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily residential.
2. Abstracts and analyzes records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal descriptions of property and record completeness.
3. Resolves issues such as missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information in the title documentation.
4. Prepares initial title commitment documentation following procedural guidelines.
5. Prepares and reviews reports for accuracy.
6. May provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines.
7. Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Typically requires 2+ years of directly related experience
• State license(s) if required

Pay Range: $20.72 - $27.62

This hiring range is an estimate of the base pay at posting time. Pay depends on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and location.
