Job summary
Visioneering, Inc. is seeking a skilled Tool Builder for our aerospace tooling and components manufacturing facility in Michigan. The role involves setting up and operating shop equipment, reading blueprints, and following strict safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities include working with blueprints and BOM/SOW documents, operating bridges, grinders, and cranes, and maintaining high production quality in a fast-paced environment. Must bring own tools and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and follow drawings.
- Must have own tools including drill motors, grind tools and toolbox.
- Experience with aerospace or automotive tooling preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow blueprints, sketches, and specifications using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Review engineering information and tool design drawings to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate tools.
- Print BOM, and SOW readings.
- Complete tools are built with information provided from print, BOM, and SOW.
- Install dowels.
- Operate Bridgeport and surface grinder.
- Deburring, painting prep, stenciling and ID of materials.
- Operation of a hi-low and overhead crane.
- Ensure that all assigned activities are completed as scheduled.
- Must be able to achieve quality and production goals.
- Follow and maintain all safety protocols and housekeeping requirements.

Position: Tool Builder
Schedule: Day Shift (Monday- Friday 6a-4:45p + Saturday 6a-12p) Night Shift (Monday- Friday 4p-3:45a)
The Tool Builder is responsible for setting up and operating various machines and shop equipment. They must have stamina, the ability to lift heavy loads, be able to concentrate on performing tasks and commit to safety rules.
Daily roles include collaborating in a team-oriented environment with cross functional workers.
- Able to follow blueprints, sketches, and specifications, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
- Review engineering information, tool design drawings, and other specifications to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate tools
- Print BOM, and SOW readings
- Complete tools are built with information provided from print, BOM, and SOW
- Install dowels
- Operate Bridgeport and surface grinder
- Deburring, painting prep, stenciling and ID of materials
- Operation of a hi-low and overhead crane
- Ensure that all of the assigned activities are completed as scheduled
- Must be able to achieve quality and production goals

- All other duties as assigned
- Effective oral and written communication
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-motivated but able to take direction
- Understand and work to all QMS procedures and work instructions
- Ability to read complex blueprints
- Identify and find specifications within blueprint given
- Geometric tolerances (understand and recognize some symbols)
- Understanding of general tolerances
- Comprehend simple sections and views
- Understand reference system
- Understanding of Enovia
- Must have the ability to operate industrial trucks and overhead cranes
- Tool builder or mold experience (aerospace or automotive)
- Must have own tools including; drill motors, grind tools (DA and 90 grinder) and toolbox
- Quality and safety mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take direction and work as a team
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Standing for long periods of time, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting
