Job summary

A V Gauge & Fixture South in Kentucky is seeking a dedicated machinist to prepare fixture details and components for the final Assembly process. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will measure, cut, and finish metal parts using a variety of hand and power tools.

The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to read blueprints. Candidates with 1 year of machine shop experience and familiarity with gauges and jigs are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience operating machine shop equipment and tools.
• Ability to use caliper, micrometer, and gauge blocks for measurement.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and tolerances.
• Experience with fixtures, jigs, and gauges is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Secure, measure and cut raw metal stock to prescribed sizes.
• Square up metal blocks and deburr edges.
• Remove oxide and finish parts to specification.
• Operate hand and power tools to shape pieces.
• Keep a clean, organized work station and follow safety rules.
• Adhere to health, safety, and company policies.
• Perform other general labor duties as required.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed by supervision.

Summary:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the incumbent will prepare various fixture details and components for the final Assembly process.

Job Terms:

Permanent, Full Time, 40+ hours per week

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Secure, measure and cut raw metal stock to prescribed sizes
• Square up metal blocks
• Clean Black Oxide from details
• Remove sharp edges on details through de-burring
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools to shape work piece to prescribed finish
• Keep a clean and organized work station
• Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines and company policies
• Other general labor duties, as required

Skills & Abilities:

• 1 year of experience operating machine shop equipment (Bridgeport mill, lathe, grinder, tumbler)
• Ability to utilize measurement instruments (caliper, micrometer, gauge block)
• Ability to read basic blueprints
• Manufacturing assembly setting work experience is an asset
• Familiarity with check fixtures, jigs and gauges is an asset
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively with minimal supervision
