Job summary

Katalyst CRO is seeking an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and development of manufacturing fixtures using SolidWorks, creating 3D layouts and GD&T drawings.

You will collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to validate fixture concepts, support trials, and drive lean improvements through time studies and value stream mapping.

Qualifications

• Shopfloor experience and fixture design/manufacturing know-how.
• Ability to create and update work instructions and standard work.
• Experience with time study, line balancing, and lean manufacturing.
• Proficiency in value stream mapping and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of manufacturing fixtures (assembly, welding, inspection) using SolidWorks.
• Create complete 3D fixture layouts, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings using GD&T.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to validate fixture concepts, support trials, and resolve shop floor issues.
• Drive process capability and productivity improvements through effective fixture solutions.
• Develop and maintain standardized work instructions incorporating fixture usage, operator guidance, and safety considerations.
• Study assembly lines/processes and identify improvement areas per Lean Principles.
• Perform time studies and line balancing analyses, including VA/NVA/RNVA, current vs. future state.
• Develop Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and identify bottlenecks, wastes, and capacity improvements.
• Provide improvement opportunities and roadmaps with Level 1–3 recommendations.
• Develop and rewrite standard work instructions and video work instructions.
• Analyze root causes of quality issues and support corrective actions and Kaizen initiatives.
• Support fixture design per requirements.
