Job summary

Keolis Commuter Services in Reno, NV is seeking a Bus Operator with a valid NV Class A or B CDL with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements (or CDL Permit). The role requires safety focus, customer service, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must be minimum 21 years of age.
  • Must have NV Class B or A CDL with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements or CDL Permit.
  • Must have clean driving record – DMV printout for last 10 years.
  • Must have stable work history.

Responsibilities

  • Must enjoy working with the general public.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ensure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performance.
  • Familiarity with assigned routing and detours.
  • Awareness of ADA Policies and Procedures.
  • Understanding of ADA compliance.
  • Operate wheelchair lifts on model buses.
  • Collect fares and notify dispatch of refusals or fraud.
  • Provide information to passengers and assist them.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers during service disruptions.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections and log defects in ZONAR.
  • Follow deadhead routing and assigned revenue routes.
  • Depart routes on-time, never ahead of schedule.
  • Report any bus bunching or problems to disrupt service.
  • Report accidents and incidents to dispatch per procedures.

  • Collect fares and notify dispatch of any refusal to pay or any other type of fare evasion or fraud.
  • Provide information to passengers.
  • Welcome and help passengers.
  • Effectively communicate with passengers especially in case of service disruptions.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections and enter all defects into the ZONAR system.
  • Follow exact deadhead routing and assigned revenue service routes.
  • Depart the start of each route exactly on-time and never operate ahead of schedule.
  • Report any bunching of buses or other problems that may disrupt scheduled service.
  • Report immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow reporting procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Long periods (potentially exceeding 8 hours per day) of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials, repetitive hand-wrist motions, and traversing uneven surfaces.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
  • Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and airborne particles.
