Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking a Mechanical Integrity Engineer in Plaquemine, LA to develop and manage fixed equipment integrity programs. You will ensure safety and reliability of tanks, vessels, piping, and heat exchangers, performing inspections and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree, strong communication skills, RCA experience, and knowledge of industry codes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Four-year accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of chemical/refining industry maintenance practices and RCA methodology.
  • Familiarity with ASME/ANSI/NBIC/API recommended practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure mechanical integrity, reliability, and safety of fixed equipment (tanks, vessels, piping, exchangers).
  • Develop and manage mechanical integrity programs ensuring API/ASME standards compliance.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluate results to monitor performance.
  • Support preventive, corrective, and turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain inspection, repair, and equipment history documentation.
  • Provide engineering input for new installations, modifications and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, inspection, and project teams to optimize equipment performance.
  • Serve as SME during MOC process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • Ensure the mechanical integrity, reliability, and safety of fixed equipment such as tanks, pressure vessels, piping, and heat exchangers.
  • Develop, implement, and manage mechanical integrity programs for fixed equipment, ensuring compliance with industry codes (API 510, 570, 653) and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections, monitor equipment performance and evaluate inspection results.
  • Support preventive, corrective, and turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis Investigations of failures and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Provide engineering expertise for new installations, modifications, and capital projects, including design reviews and material selection.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, inspection, and project teams, to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Serve as a technical reviewer and subject matter expert during the management of change (MOC) process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four-year accredited Engineering Degree (Mechanical)
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office applications required
  • Knowledge of chemical/refining industry maintenance practices and processes
  • RCA methodology
  • ASME / ANSI / NBIC / API Recommended Practices
Preferred
  • 2 years of experience minimum in the engineering field

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to access all plant areas.
  • Use of PPE is required in specific areas.
  • Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
  • Climb stairs, straight ladders, and structures, etc.
  • Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
