Job Summary
The Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer supports mechanical engineering activities across projects, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality design solutions. This role contributes to equipment design and selection, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and supports execution throughout the project lifecycle while providing guidance to less experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform the design, specification, and procurement of pressure vessels, heat transfer, or rotating equipment for oil & gas and energy projects.
- Prepare and review mechanical equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
- Conduct technical evaluations, evaluate equipment suitability, and issue clarification of supplier bids; complete technical reports to support order placement.
- Review vendor documentation and technical submittals to ensure compliance with ASME Section VIII, ANSI, API, and other applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to internal standards and best practices.
- Interface with vendors, clients, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure technical alignment and integration.
- Support fabrication, inspection, and testing activities including factory and site acceptance testing.
- Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Education Requirements
- BSc, MSc or equivalent in Mechanical / Engineering Technology is required.
- 5–9 years of experience in heat transfer/pressure vessel design and analysis or rotating machinery design, preferably within EPC environments.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API, ANSI, ISO, BS, and other relevant industry standards.
- Experience in equipment selection, specifications, requisitions, technical bid evaluation, and supplier document reviews in engineering firms or equipment manufacturers, including operation and maintenance of process plant equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Software
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
- Proficiency in PV Elite, Compress, or similar design/analysis tools (e.g., vendor sizing, vibration analysis).
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations.
- Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or facility.
- When on field assignment you may be required to work in a plant and/or shop areas around production machinery subject to varying temperatures and noise.
- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
