Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is seeking an experienced Staff Fixed Equipment Engineer to provide proactive fixed equipment and piping engineering and reliability support at our Houston-area facilities.

The role involves evaluating piping/equipment repair methods, providing engineering support to Operations, and conducting Fitness-for-Service assessments per API 579, while adhering to ASME and PSM/EPA regulations. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of experience in engineering, inspection, testing, repair and alteration of fixed equipment in refining, petrochemical, midstream or similar units.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (ABET EAC accredited) is required; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Travel to Company facilities outside Houston/Mont Belvieu up to 20% of time.
  • FFS (Fitness-for-Service) assessment experience is required.
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and 2, ASME B31.3/31.4/31.8, PCC-1, PCC-2, TEMA and related standards.
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint; strong communication and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of PSM, EPA RMP and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive fixed equipment and piping engineering and reliability support to Operations.
  • Assist with static equipment design, material selection, reliability, and construction QA.
  • Evaluate piping and equipment repair methods and provide engineered repair solutions.
  • Serve as SME for fixed equipment processes, following company standards.
  • Support mechanical integrity programs and preventative maintenance for regulatory assets.

Our services include: natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transportation and storage; NGL transportation, fractionation, storage and import and export terminals; crude oil gathering, transportation, storage and terminals; petrochemical and refined products transportation, storage and terminals; and a marine transportation business that operates primarily on the United States inland and Intracoastal Waterway systems. The partnership’s assets include approximately 50,000 miles of pipelines; 260 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals; and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.

The Staff Fixed Equipment Engineer is responsible for proactive fixed equipment and piping engineering and reliability support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist static equipment design, material selection, reliability, and construction quality assurance.
  • Evaluate piping and equipment repair methods.
  • Provide engineering support to Operations, including engineered repair solutions.
  • Support and advise on key static equipment and mechanical integrity considerations. This may include but is not limited to:
    • Fitness-For-Service assessments
    • Vibration and noise analysis
    • Piping stress and flexibility
    • Thermal expansion
    • Fired heater design
    • Heat exchanger design
    • Valve and Gasket selection
    • Metallurgical analysis
    • Boiler design and troubleshooting
  • Make advancements or develop needed calculation tools, processes, procedures or standards, to improve project design, material selection, quality assurance, and reliability.
  • Review construction stress calculations and design for complex designs and critical equipment.
  • Conduct field walkdowns for critical areas during new construction.
  • Stay current with regulations, industry standards, engineering, inspection and repair methods, and applicable technologies and propose program improvements as appropriate.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for certain processes, procedures, and Company standards associated with Fixed Equipment.
  • Assist inspectors planning mechanical integrity assurance programs and preventative maintenance programs for OSHA, PSM, EPA, SPCC and DOT covered assets.
  • Perform Level 1 and 2 Engineering Fitness for Service assessments per API 579.
  • Must be well versed in the ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and 2, ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2, TEMA Standards, and other industry standards. Mentor less experienced engineers in the Facility Mechanical Integrity department
Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in engineering, inspection, testing, repair and alteration of fixed equipment in a refining, petrochemical, chemical, midstream, or similar processing units is required.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (ABET EAC accredited program) is required; B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • This position requires travel to Company facilities outside of Houston/Mont Belvieu up to 20% of your time
  • Engineering Fitness for Service (FFS) assessment experience is required.
  • Experience in industry standard software tools including COMPRESS/INSPECT, CAESAR II, Mathcad, Signal FFS, PCMS, etc. are preferredAdvances stress analysis experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills and computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.Working knowledge of the Federal and State regulations affecting fixed equipment, including Process Safety Management (PSM), DOT and EPA RMP requirements is required.
  • Technical knowledge and practical working experience in condition and time-based inspection processes, non-destructive examination (NDE) method selection and fixed equipment defect assessment and repair are required.
  • Must be well versed in ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and 2, ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2, TEMA Standards, and other industry standard.
  • Working knowledge of damage mechanisms occurring in fixed equipment in petrochemical and midstream environments is required.
