Job summary

The Chicago Department of Aviation, Finance Division, is seeking a Financial Analyst to perform complex financial analyses of fiscal data for city programs and services, with emphasis on fixed assets management.

The role covers asset registers, depreciation under GASB standards, CWIP tracking, and coordination with CIP/engineering. Strong Excel and audit-support skills are required; mentorship and public-sector exposure are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with 1 year of financial analysis experience.
• Experience analyzing financial records and government accounting preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).

Responsibilities

• Maintain fixed Asset register for CDA through CityWorks and transmit to DOF.
• Record additions, transfers, retirements and disposals with proper capitalization.
• Calculate depreciation in compliance with GASB No 34.
• Track Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) for capital projects and capitalize on completion.
• Support ACFR fixed asset footnotes and schedules.
• Coordinate with Engineering/Capital Projects for proper cost classifications.
• Conduct periodic physical inventory of fixed assets and reconcile for insurance/audit.
• Support external audits and state oversight agencies.
• Assist with lease accounting under GASB 87 and GASB 96.
