Job summary

The Staff Accountant at Nexstar Media Group, Inc. supports the Corporate Accounting Department in the monthly close process, including analysis of financial performance of TV stations, preparing monthly journal entries, and ensuring adherence to internal controls.

Responsibilities cover CIP reconciliations, fixed asset records, annual inventories, and interactions with Chief Engineers and RBMs to apply GAAP in close cycles and provide accurate financial reporting across markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Excellent oral and written communication with strong attention to detail.
• Minimum two years’ corporate accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in broadcasting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly depreciation and general ledger journal entries for approximately 30–40 markets.
• Complete monthly CIP reconciliations for designated markets and review with Chief Engineers & RBMs for capitalization vs expensing per GAAP.
• Maintain Station Fixed Asset records and prepare monthly depreciation, additions and disposals.
• Perform annual fixed asset inventories for designated markets.
• Scan manual journal entries to PDF and save them on the shared drive.
• Review station balance sheet reconciliations monthly and analyze general ledger accounts.
