Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fixed Asset Accountant on a temporary-to-hire basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's fixed asset records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves tracking capital expenditures, depreciation, and asset disposals, as well as providing valuable insights to support financial decision-making. Additionally, the Fixed Asset Accountant will oversee (CIP) and engage in project management activities to ensure successful execution and completion. This is a remote job with a great non profit. Key Responsibilities :

• Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring all acquisitions, disposals, and transfers are accurately recorded.
• Monitor and track capital expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
• Calculate and record depreciation for all fixed assets in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Conduct periodic physical inventories of fixed assets and reconcile discrepancies.
• Prepare and analyze fixed asset reports for management, highlighting key trends and variances.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules related to fixed assets.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper documentation and approval of asset transactions.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to fixed assets.
• Support the implementation of new fixed asset management systems and processes.
• Oversee CIP including budgeting, tracking, and reporting.
• Engage in project management activities to ensure successful execution and completion of fixed asset-related projects.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards (GAAP / IFRS).
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with MS Dynamics is required.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
