Job summary

Race Rock Group in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a skilled Welding Supervisor to oversee weld preparation, welding, and finishing operations in accordance with customer drawings and specifications. Reports to Production supervision and leads a team to meet production schedules while upholding safety standards.

The role requires proven FCAW experience, ability to read drawings, manage set up parameters, and maintain quality through in-process inspections.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read drawings and interpret welding symbols.
• Experience with FCAW (flux-core) welding.
• Knowledge of welding parameters (amps, volts) and fixturing.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Ability to supervise and train welding personnel.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, supervise and review work performed by their assigned employees.
• Proficient in company welding techniques.
• Interpretation of drawings, including weld requirement symbology.
• Working knowledge of fixturing and welding set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
• Lay out, positions, secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• In process inspection of fit-up and or welding.
• Maintain work areas to meet Safety and Housekeeping standards.
• Manage employees to meet man hours given for types of products being worked.
• Minimize employee wait times to maximize department productivity.
• Ensure employees supervised have required documented training, certifications and/or qualifications required for their assigned job tasks.
• Communication with other departments regarding production schedules.
• Assists with checking TCP daily ensuring their employees are clocked into the correct job and or labor code.

SUMMARY:

Reports to Production supervision. Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Plan, assign, supervise and review work performed by their assigned employees.
2. Proficient in company welding techniques.
3. Interpretation of drawings, including weld requirement symbology.
4. Working knowledge of fixturing and welding set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
5. Lay out, positions, secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and measuring tape, along with other tools needed to perform the job.
6. In process inspection of fit-up and or welding.
7. Maintain work areas to meet Safety and Housekeeping standards.
8. Manage employees to meet man hours given for types of products being worked.
9. Minimize employee wait times to maximize department productivity.
10. Ensure employees supervised have required documented training, certifications and/or qualifications required for their assigned job tasks.
11. Communication with other departments regarding production schedules.
12. Assists with checking TCP daily ensuring their employees are clocked into the correct job and or labor code.
13. Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful completion of an internal FCAW welding test 1G.
• Three-years flux core welding experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Must be able to read drawings.
• Reliable work ethics with great attendance.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends.
• Knowledge of electrode filler materials applications for various steel alloy materials.
• Welding equipment preventative maintenance.
• Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 75 pounds.
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
