Job summary

Arcosa in Houston, TX is hiring Fitter/Welders for the 1st shift at our plant. You will join a team to weld, fabricate, and repair metal parts per blueprints, layouts, and WPS. Your work will showcase products used on waterways across the country.

The role requires FCAW experience and the ability to pass weld tests, while adhering to safety rules. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–3:45 pm, with competitive benefits and opportunities to contribute to safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year FCAW weld experience.
• Ability to pass vertical and overhead fillet weld tests using FCAW-G.
• Must read weld size and acceptance criteria.

Job description

We are now hiring Fitter/Welders in our Houston, TX manufacturing Plant for our 1st shift.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (6:00 am - 3:45 pm)

Our welders get to see the products they’ve built on waterways across the country. As a Welder at Arcosa, you’ll apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, auto welding, and/or semi-automatic welding equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Proficiently perform flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds
• Inspect your own welds to make sure all Quality requirements are met
• Follow all safety rules and practices
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• Minimum of 1 year FCAW (flux-core weld) experience
• Must demonstrate ability to satisfactorily pass vertical fillet and overhead fillet weld tests using FCAW-G
• Ability to understand weld size requirements
• Ability to understand weld quality acceptance criteria
• Must be able to perform welding work while wearing all required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a filtering face piece and/or tight fitting respirator
• May require working above ground (15 ft or more)
• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights
• May require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of time
• May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time
• Metatarsal steel toe boots are required at time of hire
