Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary:

The Dover Tank & Plate Company is seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our fabrication team. The Fitter/Welder is responsible for fitting and fabricating structural steel and other metal components according to drawings, specifications, and job requirements.

This position will lay out and fit metal components, verify dimensions and fit-up, and perform welding following required quality checks. The ideal candidate is comfortable reading fabrication drawings, working independently, and safely operating common fabrication and material-handling equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Fit and assemble structural steel and fabricated metal components according to drawings and specifications
• Perform MIG welding on structural steel and fabricated components
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop prints, and dimensions
• Lay out work and accurately measure components using a tape measure
• Verify dimensions, alignment, and fit-up prior to welding
• Operate oxygen-fuel torches and plasma cutting equipment
• Perform bolting and assembly as required
• Safely operate overhead cranes for moving and positioning material
• Safely operate tow motors/forklifts
• Inspect completed work for quality and dimensional accuracy

Schedule:

5:30am-2:30pm, with overtime available

Compensation:

$22.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications
