Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary, is hiring a Seam Welder for our plant in Steele, AL. You will use jigs and fixtures to lay out pieces and weld using manual, semi-automatic, or automatic equipment, inspecting for conformance to specs.

The role includes basic maintenance of welding equipment and working with blueprints or work orders. A safety-focused individual with at least 1 year in manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Attendance record is important.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience reading blueprints or operating a robotic or sub-arc welder is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment to join pieces per layouts or work orders.
• Position components preparatory to welding.
• Weld metal parts manually and with automated welding equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance on welding equipment (e.g., tip changes).
• Weld straight seams with consistent quality.
• May move materials or products using appropriate equipment.
• Follow all safety practices and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary is hiring a Seam Welder for our plant located in Steele, AL. As a Seam Welder, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. The Auto Welder also inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment.

What You'll Do

• Set up and operate automatic welding equipment to weld metal pieces together according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
• Position components of fabricated metal products preparatory welding.
• Weld metals parts together manually and by using an automatice welding machine.
• Perform minor maintenance to welding equipment (e.g., changes tips)
• Weld staright seams with consistently acceptable results.
• May operate appropriate transportation equipment to move materials or product.
• Observe all standard safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• The ability to maintain a good attendance record.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience reading blueprints or operating a robotic or sub-arc welder is preferred.
