Job summary

HarborFab is seeking a skilled Fitter to assemble and fit steel components on site in Winnsboro, TX. Responsibilities include verifying measurements, welding, and positioning parts per blueprints, with safety as a priority.

Entry to mid-level fitters will be expected to read drawings, use hand and power tools, and participate in on-the-job training and coaching to improve production efficiency and quality.

Purpose:

As a Fitter you will be responsible for assembling and fitting miscellaneous steel components according to technical drawings and blueprints, ensuring that they meet design specifications and quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
  • Weld steel members.
  • Move steel members into positions, manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Position, align, fit, and track weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
  • Determine appropriate method and sequence of tasks in order to fabricate items in the most efficient way possible.
  • Coaching and training of lower-level fitters to help them advance in their skill sets.
  • Assisting foreman and managers maintain consistent workflow and production on shop floor to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure all peers are following all safety policies.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks to identify and rectify defects, ensuring that the finished product meets quality standards.

Fitter 1
  • Basic Metalworking Skills:

Education, Experience, and Certifications
