Job summary

Praxy is seeking an experienced Fitter/Fabricator in Ashland, VA to fabricate, fit, and assemble components for overhead cranes and related equipment. The role requires reading shop drawings, interpreting AWS weld symbols, and performing high-quality FCAW welding.

Candidate must pass required welding tests and maintain a strong focus on safety and quality while working 10-hour shifts, with Saturdays as needed, under a contract-to-hire arrangement resulting in possible full-time employment after

Qualifications

• Experience reading shop drawings and interpreting AWS weld symbols.
• Experience with FCAW welding.
• Ability to pass required welding tests.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and fit components according to shop drawings and specifications.
• Perform high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Read and interpret shop drawings and AWS weld symbols.
• Produce welds that meet AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
• Pass a full-penetration vertical weld test and overhead fillet weld test.
• Work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays as required.
• Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
