Job summary

General Mills is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join our Rooty Hill facility, supporting the production of iconic brands for AU/NZ markets. You will maintain, repair and optimize a range of manufacturing equipment, following preventive maintenance schedules and safety policies.

The role requires strong pneumatics, welding, and automation experience within a food manufacturing setting. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to implement improvements, ensuring reliability and efficiency of plant

Qualifications

• Certificate III – Mechanical Trade is required.
• Experience in food manufacturing or related industry is essential.
• Pneumatics knowledge is essential.
• Welding (TIG/MIG) and minor fabrication experience.
• Experience with automated plant timing and packaging equipment is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Adherence to health and safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing equipment and site infrastructure, following preventative maintenance schedules. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on automated equipment. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to increased efficiency and productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, R&D, Engineering) on projects involving new equipment design and installation. Ensure all work complies with company health and safety policies.

What you’ll bring

• Certificate III – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and machining)
• Proven experience in a food manufacturing or related industry (essential)
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with pneumatics (essential)
• Ability to weld (TIG and MIG) and carry out minor fabrication work
• Experience with automated plant and mechanical machine timing
• Experience with packaging equipment (Case packers/Thermoformers/Conveyors) is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Desirable (but not essential): D Class Electrical License Forklift License SAP and Microsoft Office experience
