Job summary

Dallas Fabrication, a Carrollton, TX-based structural steel fabricator, seeks a Fitter to interpret fabrication drawings, measure and mark materials, and assemble beams, columns, and plates to precise tolerances. This is a full-time, on-site role supporting a range of shop activities.

You will work with welders and machine operators, verify dimensions with gauges, and maintain a clean, safe work area while contributing to continuous process improvements and on-schedule project delivery.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret structural steel drawings, blueprints, and shop details; understand measurements, layout, and basic math.
• Hands‑on experience fitting structural steel components, including measuring, cutting, aligning, preparing materials for welding.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and equipment such as sawing, burning, drilling, punching, coping, and basic welding.
• Knowledge of shop safety procedures and PPE, and safe operation of tools.
• Attention to detail to verify dimensions and tolerances consistently.
• Ability to lift and move steel materials and stand for extended periods.
• Effective communication and teamwork with supervisors, welders, and other fabrication team members.
• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication or fitting; vocational training or certification is a plus.

Role Description The Fitter role at Dallas Fabrication is a full-time, on-site position based in Carrollton, TX. The Fitter is expected to follow company safety standards, maintain a clean work area, and support continuous improvement of fabrication processes.
