Winchester Gardens in Maplewood, NJ is seeking a full-time Fitness Trainer/Instructor to lead resident fitness and wellness programs and supervise the fitness center.

Responsibilities include welcoming residents, developing and directing programs under the LivWell Director, teaching proper use of equipment, maintaining safety, recording attendance, and reporting hazards; CPR/AED and First Aid current required.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
• College degree and/or nationally recognized Certification in Health, Fitness or Wellness-related field.

• Maintain attendance records for fitness and aquatic programs.
• Complete shift assignments including cleaning and maintaining equipment.
• Report hazards and injuries to LivWell Director or department directors.
• Participate in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.

Winchester Gardens is seeking an experienced Fitness Trainer/Instructor to join our team!

Winchester Gardens is a Springpoint Senior Living community located in Maplewood, NJ. We are seeking a full-time Fitness Trainer/Instructor to join our team. At Springpoint, the Fitness Trainer/Instructor is responsible for providing a high level of customer service while supervising the usage of the Fitness Center and/or leading any related community fitness and wellness programs.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome, greet and provide assistance with regard to fitness center to residents or staff.
• Under the direction of the LivWell Director, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the ongoing operations of the fitness center and all related programming.
• Train, teach and/or instruct residents and possibly staff how to properly use/operate a variety of strength training and cardiovascular equipment, individually or in a group exercise class.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of all policies and procedures concerning available fitness facilities and programs.
• Inspect the fitness center, all fitness equipment and pool area daily to ensure safety and compliance with current applicable regulations.
• Maintain records of the residents’ use of, and attendance in, any/all fitness and aquatic programming
• Complete all assignments during shift which may include cleaning and maintaining equipment.
• Inform LivWell Director or other department directors, as required, of potential hazards related to facility conditions or the physical limitations of its users.
• Work with the LivWell Director and the community as necessary to implement recommended changes as required.
• Attend and actively participate in all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
• Thoroughly complete any/all incident reports, report all injuries, and/or equipment problems to LivWell Director or appropriate department director.

Education and Experience:

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent required
• College degree and/or nationally recognized Certification in Health, Fitness or Wellness-related field
• Experience working in an active older adult retirement community, physical therapy department and/or medical or hospital-cased fitness program preferred
• Must possess and maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications as required at all times

Pay Range: $25.00-$26.00/hour
