Qualifications

Planet Fitness, a private equity-backed fitness retailer, is seeking candidates for the role of a Fitness Trainer. The Fitness Trainer is a friendly and courteous individual who consistently delivers excellent service, fosters positive customer satisfaction and loyalty, and promotes Ignite Fitness Holdings-Planet Fitness Mission, Vision, and Values. The Fitness Instructor must be adept at balancing multiple tasks with a friendly, courteous demeanor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
2. Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
3. Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
4. Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements.
5. Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
6. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
7. Administer emergency first aid, treat injuries, or refer injured persons to physicians.

(Initial job training hours may vary as well as when the needs of the facility change.)

• Weekday hours are based on club needs.

Skills

• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes of work (e.g., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels) with appropriate safety equipment.
• Ability to occasionally bend at the waist with some twisting for up to one hour of work.

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years old or older.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Six months of face-to-face customer service experience in a retail environment required, or 1-year fitness experience preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Certification is required to assist and coach members. If not currently certified, a group course will be provided, and completion is required within the first few months of employment.
