Job summary

Metro YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a mission-driven group fitness instructor to lead safe, engaging wellness classes across multiple formats. The role supports healthy living and community building within a growing YMCA.

Applicants must hold a current national group fitness certification and have at least one year of teaching experience; the position offers a part-time schedule, benefits, and a sign-on bonus may apply. Strong communication and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• Current required group fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization such as YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise, AFAA, ACE, IFTA, NETA, and/or AAAI/ISMA.
• Minimum one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.
• Ability to teach two or more class formats desired.
• Certifications subject to annual audit.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Supports members in achieving health and well-being goals by answering questions.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support.
• Adheres to the scheduled format and description of the class.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and helps them connect with the YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts approach to support diverse participants' capabilities and health.
• Celebrates achievements related to program and personal health goals.
• Follows YMCA policies; responds to emergency situations.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.
• Contacts supervisor with any equipment issues.
• Music selection aligned with YMCA values.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
• Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program and personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
• Keep accurate class attendance record.
• Contact supervisor with any equipment issues.
• Music selection must be appropriate and in line with the YMCA's position as both a community and family-based organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
