Job summary

Boll Family YMCA is hiring a Weekend Fitness Experience Specialist to engage with members, maintain a welcoming, clean wellness space, and promote YMCA programs. The role focuses on safety, assistance in classes, and contributing to a friendly member experience.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with CPR/AED current or within 6 months, and have strengths in customer service and equipment operation. Flex weekend shifts align with member activity and center operations.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• CPR/AED certifications must be current and/or completed within 6 months of employment.
• Must have technical skills in the operations and use of a variety of fitness equipment.
• Preferred 6 months - 1 year of customer service experience.
• Preferred experience in cleaning, such as housekeeping, commercial dayporting, etc.

Responsibilities

• Shifts Available: 8:45 am - 4:15 pm.
• Assure wellness areas and equipment are kept clean throughout the day, sanitizing frequently and maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Monitor wellness center areas, including free weights and cardio, ensuring safety.
• Engage with members on the wellness floor and in group exercise classes, assisting and enhancing their YMCA experience.
• Assist other departments to maintain friendliness, cleanliness, and overall member safety.
• Stay current with advances in health and wellness fields.
• Familiarize and promote YMCA wellness programs to members.

General Function

The Fitness Experience Specialist interacts with new and existing members to help them achieve their health and well-being goals by providing a friendly, safe, and clean space. The Fitness Experience Specialist creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• CPR/AED certifications must be current and/or completed within 6 months of employment.
• Must have technical skills in the operations and use of a variety of fitness equipment.
• Preferred 6 months - 1 year of customer service experience.
• Preferred experience in cleaning, such as housekeeping, commercial dayporting, etc.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Shifts Available: 8:45 am - 4:15 pm
• Assured wellness areas and equipment are kept clean throughout the day, sanitizing frequently, particularly before and after member use. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness through attention to detail in the wellness center through hourly checks.
• Monitor all areas of the wellness center, including free weight and cardio, and select machine areas to ensure safety.
• Engage with members on the wellness floor and in group exercise classes. This includes talking with, assisting, demonstrating, and enhancing their YMCA experience.
• Assist other departments with duties as required that ensure the friendliness, cleanliness, and overall safety of members.
• Stay current with advances in the health and wellness field.
• Familiarize and understand all wellness programs to promote and educate YMCA members.
