Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Fitness Director to provide leadership and strategic oversight for all fitness programs at the Family Center, including fitness floor operations, personal training, small group training, group exercise, and water fitness.

You will develop innovative wellness programs, lead high-performing teams, drive participation and revenue, and ensure safe, clean wellness spaces while aligning with the Y's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
• Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification required.
• 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in fitness, wellness, or health promotion programs.
• Experience managing budgets, payroll, scheduling, and program performance metrics.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Dayforce, ClubConnect, and similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of fitness, wellness, and chronic disease prevention programs.
• Develop innovative programs and services that respond to community needs and support Y priorities.
• Drive revenue growth through training services and wellness offerings.
• Oversee staff recruitment, coaching, and development; ensure certification compliance.
• Collaborate with marketing and community partners to expand impact; monitor performance metrics.
