Job summary

The Hills Country Club in Austin, TX is seeking a Fitness Director to provide strategic oversight of all fitness operations, ensuring high-quality, safe, and innovative services for members. This role shapes the fitness experience and drives revenue through programs and staff development.

You will lead a high-performance team, supervise recruitment and training, and collaborate with the General Manager on quarterly sales plans to meet fitness revenue targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years in fitness management with 2 years in a managerial role including budgeting.
  • Minimum 1 year of strategic and operational business planning experience.
  • Current certifications in ACSM, NASM, ACE, PTA Global, NFPT, ISSA, CSCS, or NSCA.

Fitness Director

The Hills Country Club is a private golf and lifestyle club in Austin, TX, featuring 72 holes across four championship golf courses, a 22,000 square foot wellness center, resort‑style pools, and year‑round social events. The club offers a high‑quality fitness and wellness experience to its members.

Job Summary

The Fitness Director is responsible for the strategic oversight of all fitness operations, ensuring the delivery of professional, high‑quality, safe, and innovative health and fitness services to our members. As the club's functional fitness expert, the director shapes the overall fitness experience and culture, managing programs, staff development, and revenue generation for all fitness‑related services.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the fitness team to consistently achieve or exceed budgeted sales goals, fostering a high‑performance culture.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings to drive accountability and provide monthly performance evaluations.
  • Oversee staff performance, ensure tracking and accountability, and address improvement areas.
  • Supervise recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of fitness personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and compliant work environment.
  • Facilitate ongoing education and certification for fitness staff, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate fitness programs that meet member needs and align with club objectives.
  • Review and support the Group Exercise program, auditing Personal Training sessions and Team classes to ensure high‑quality instruction.
  • Audit Group Exercise classes for quality, variety, and member satisfaction, making adjustments as needed.
  • Implement training, staff incentive programs, and continuous education to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce Invited’s service standards through comprehensive staff training and daily practice.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and execute quarterly strategic sales plans that align with club goals.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual fitness revenue targets set by the company, driving financial growth.
  • Maximize sales across all fitness‑related departments, establishing and tracking sales goals to maintain a high‑performance environment.
  • Provide weekly performance reports to ensure alignment with club and department objectives.
  • Attend continuing education events to stay updated on the latest industry trends and innovations.
  • Ensure all staff hours and revenues are accurately recorded and payroll is verified daily.
  • Lead business development efforts, including profit and loss analysis, to support the growth and profitability of fitness operations.
  • Oversee all fitness‑related operations, including member services, communications, marketing, purchasing, budgeting, staffing, training, and supervision.
  • Track all hours, FitStarts, and new clients on the Leaderboard to drive accountability and performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field.
  • Minimum 3 years in fitness management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role that includes budgeting and revenue/expense control.
  • Minimum 1 year of strategic and operational business planning experience.
  • Current certifications in ACSM, NASM, ACE, PTA Global, NFPT, ISSA, CSCS, or NSCA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in marketing and sales within the fitness industry, with a track record of driving member engagement and program participation.
  • Experience organizing and managing multiple fitness programs and activities simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of fitness program development and execution, including personal training, group classes, and wellness initiatives.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a fitness or health club environment.
  • Skilled in engaging with members, assessing fitness needs, and creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
