Job Summary
The Fitness Trainer is responsible for creating a safe, effective, and engaging fitness environment for club members and guests. The role supervises exercise programs, educates members on proper techniques, develops personalized fitness plans, and actively promotes club services and facilities. By consistently delivering the 3‑steps of service—Warm Welcomes, Magic Moments, and Fond Farewells—you contribute to a supportive and motivating atmosphere.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Fitness Manager or Fitness Director.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Assist in exercise and fitness areas, supporting members and guests with their programs.
- Evaluate member/guest fitness needs and provide appropriate exercise programs, including personal instruction.
- Conduct new Member Fit Start appointments, track results, and promote fitness activities.
- Update fitness activities and programming on the club web page and/or member communication board.
- Promote facility amenities, programs, and club while maintaining professionalism and service aligned with club values.
- Maintain current fitness‑related certifications (CPR/AED) and pursue new education opportunities.
- Ensure daily assignments are completed and workspaces are organized and tidy.
- Process accounting procedures for personal training and group sessions accurately.
- Submit monthly forecasts for expected sessions, Fit Starts and new client goals.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date schedule of availability.
Additional Duties
- Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
- Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions.
- Follow safe working practices and encourage compliance with safety guidelines.
- Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
- Address and resolve challenges using available resources and collaborate with regional and corporate teams.
- Attend daily briefings and engage in required activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Fitness Trainer, demonstrating proficiency in developing and leading personalized fitness programs.
- Current personal training certifications: ACSM, NASM, ACE, PTA Global, NFPT, ISSA, CSCS, or NSCA.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED within the last 6 months and certified group exercise instructor with AFAA or ACE.
Preferred
- College degree in health, fitness, exercise science or related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and motivate clients.
- Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored programs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
- Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
- Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs on occasion.
- Talking, hearing, and seeing.
