Job description

Job Title: Fitness and Wellness Program Manager

This position is responsible for providing visionary leadership and management of a comprehensive Fitness and Wellness program. It offers expertise and oversight in developing and executing fitness and wellness activities. The role includes recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising student staff to ensure alignment with the department's vision, mission, and goals.

Note: This position may pay more than the listed salary depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with other university departments and committees.
2. Conduct inspections and inventory of furniture, fixtures, and equipment periodically.
3. Participate in departmental planning activities.
4. Recruit, hire, process, schedule, train, and supervise fitness and wellness staff.
5. Manage designated fitness areas, including procurement of personnel, equipment, and supplies.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for fitness and wellness programs.
7. Create new fitness and wellness programs, including monthly demonstration kitchen presentations and special events.
8. Supervise part-time staff, including personal trainers and cardio & weight room assistants.
9. Coordinate reservation setups and assist with fiscal management of operations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years of related experience in fitness programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to instruct fitness courses.
• Physical ability to exert heavy force and lift heavy objects.

Certifications and Licenses:

First Aid and CPA certification, Group Exercise Instructor certification.

Special Requirements:

Applicants with equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. One year of experience is equivalent to one college year. To qualify through experience, applicants must have at least four years of related experience, totaling seven years of experience overall.
