Job Summary
The Fitness Coach represents 24 Hour Fitness to members and clients by delivering a positive fitness experience and quality personal and small group training sessions, leading to member retention and client acquisition. The Fitness Coach leverages experience and specialized education to deliver premium programming and consultation for clients in person.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Service and Train Clients
- Design and deliver comprehensive fitness programs based on clients' goals, including exercise selections, varied fitness offerings, nutrition guidelines, and promoting a fitness lifestyle.
- Inform clients of fitness tools available to assist in achieving their goals.
- Set expectations and hold clients accountable through goal setting, follow-up discussions, and progress tracking.
- Demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques.
- Be punctual, prepared, enthusiastic, and attentive for all training sessions.
- Meet productivity expectations by servicing clients and group sessions effectively.
- Increase group training sessions and attendance by motivating and connecting with clients of various fitness levels.
- Service Members and Administration
- Assist in member activities such as seminars, training days, and deliver positive experiences through assessments.
- Build a strong fitness business via new client acquisition and retention.
- Onboard new members professionally, providing recommendations for a fitness lifestyle.
- Coach members on equipment use and exercise techniques.
- Start and finish sessions as scheduled.
- Handle member concerns or direct to management.
- Maintain a clean, friendly, and well-organized club environment.
- Update client progress regularly following company guidelines.
- Schedule sessions and appointments using company systems, planning four weeks in advance.
Organization Relationships
Reports to the General Manager and interacts with all club staff levels.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of physical fitness principles and exercise techniques.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate fitness equipment.
- Capability to perform various exercise routines.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CPR and AED certifications obtained through in-person training.
- Degree or current certification from nationally accredited industry associations.
- Specialized fitness credentials or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach.
- Experience in holistic fitness program design and consultation is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, jumping, kicking, and prolonged standing and walking.
Working Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally loud noise levels.
- Extended workdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
