Job summary

Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich, IL seeks a part-time Fitness Attendant to provide customer service, guidance and leadership to members.

You will design and deliver cardiovascular, strength and flexibility programs while maintaining safety and building member relationships.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• YMCA Basic Fitness Leadership certification within first 6 months of employment.
• ACEC Certification or equivalent.
• YMCA Health and Fitness certification within 90 days from hire.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service, guidance, and leadership to all members and participants.
• Create and deliver fitness programs, including cardiovascular exercise, muscle conditioning and flexibility.
• Designs and delivers fitness programs that meet individual members’ needs.
• Represent the YMCA by using tools and information to increase member knowledge of fitness and other programs.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with members through proactive engagement.
• Motivate members to commit to long-term participation and attend staff trainings.
• Responds to safety concerns, reports incidents, and assists with equipment problems.
• Maintains current certifications and participates in staff meetings.

Create and deliver fitness programs, including cardiovascular exercise, muscle conditioning and flexibility. Scope of Responsibilities: Designs and delivers fitness programs that meet individual members’ needs. Represents the YMCA by utilizing tools and information to increase member knowledge of fitness as well as other programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, charts, brochures, etc.). Develops and maintains professional relationships with members by providing personal attention every shift to all participants through a proactive approach. Provides assistance/guidance and makes an effort to acknowledge all members in the fitness room. Instructs members on correct position and body alignment to prevent injuries. Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents. Reports equipment problems. Attends staff meetings and trainings. Maintains current certifications. Discusses and promotes all YMCA programs. Motivates members to commit to long-term participation. Supports the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be at least 18 years of age. YMCA Basic Fitness Leadership certification within first 6 months of employment or have current A.C.E. Certification or equivalent Principles of YMCA Health and Fitness certification must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire. Have current (within 30 days from date of hire) CPR and First Aid certifications. Working knowledge of preventative health and fitness programs and philosophy. Ability to motivate and lead members. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Ability to communicate to large and small groups of members and the ability to work with varying fitness levels and ages. Ability to set up, move, and store equipment.
