Description of Work

At the School of Natural Resources, our mission is to champion the natural world. We address complex environmental issues through scientific discovery, creativity, and perseverance; and teach future leaders to manage the delicate balance between people and the environment on which we depend.

As the Fishery Management Research Technologist, you will:

  • Assist with survey design and implementation, coordinate data collection and field sampling, and analyze data.
  • Prepare reports and manuscripts based on these analyses, and carry out other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise research technicians and undergraduate assistants.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in fishery science or related field plus two years of fisheries research or other relevant experience.
  • Data gathering via angler surveys, data analysis, report and peer-reviewed publication writing experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to identify common Nebraska fishes and have experience with standardized sampling protocols.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with state and federal resource management agencies.
