Fisheries Technician

The Missouri Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Missouri, School of Natural Resources, is seeking a Fisheries Technician in Columbia, Missouri.

Position Details

• Pay rate: $15 per hour
• Hours: 10–40 hours per week
• Start date: Mid-May
• End date: To be determined; the position may continue through December 2026

Duties

Assist University of Missouri researchers from the Fisheries and Wildlife and Computer Science programs in collecting fish habitat data in non‑wadable streams and rivers using remote sensing technologies. Sampling will include, but is not limited to, aerial drones, 360 cameras, and sidescan sonar.

The majority of the position will involve GIS work using ArcGIS Pro, primarily classifying habitat in drone and sidescan sonar imagery. Twenty hours per week will be dedicated to habitat work. An additional 20 hours per week may be available during the summer for other projects.
