The Fish and Wildlife Technician II position provides critical support to the Program Coordinator andbiologist in the Streams Investigations Branch. Along with assisting with sampling of fish populations,maintaining equipment needed to perform the fish population sampling, and assists in compiling data. Propersampling is vital in making management recommendations for streams and rivers in Kentucky.
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year of fishery, wildlife or habitat management/development experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional related training will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in fisheries, wildlife or habitat management/development will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Travel, extreme weather conditions, heavy equipment and wildlife may pose hazards.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
