The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 5 - Pennsylvania Field Office in State College, PA, is seeking a Fish and Wildlife Biologist to support habitat and species conservation on private lands.

You will collaborate with partners to leverage resources, develop MOUs, and oversee joint funding initiatives; contribute to reporting and project management across program offices.

  • Conduct quality control reviews of reporting and provide updates to Partners for Fish and Wildlife field staff on reporting changes.
  • Represent the Service at public meetings concerning private lands conservation issues with significant impact or political involvement.
  • Train, mentor, and coordinate work efforts between private lands staff and other team members and oversee project management.

Summary

You will serve as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist within the Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 5, Pennsylvania Field office, State College, Pennsylvania.

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Works with other Service programs to guide and coordinate activities on private lands that will benefit threatened and endangered species and migratory birds. Works with National, State, and local conservation organizations to develop partnerships that leverage Service resources for habitat work. Develops Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) or Cooperative Agreements with partner organizations for approval by the appropriate Service official to implement joint funding efforts and habitat initiatives. Seeks opportunities for the PFW program to complement and support priorities of other Service programs and ecosystem teams. Conducts quality control reviews on accomplishment reporting through the various databases (i.e., HabITS, etc.) to ensure station is adequately reporting accomplishments and provides updates to Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) field staff on changes to reporting requirements. Represents the Service at public meetings concerning private lands conservation issues that have significant impacts on resources, agricultural, or business, or have strong political involvement. Trains, mentors, and coordinates work efforts between private lands staff and other team members and oversees project management.
