King County’s DAJD seeks a Fiscal Specialist IV to oversee resident funding accounting and accounts payable for the Seattle and Kent detention facilities. The role requires an associate degree in accounting and at least four years of relevant experience, with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
You will process high-volume AP transactions in Oracle EBS, manage resident account records, and support internal controls and process improvements.
The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) is an Executive branch department with five divisions and approximately 940 budgeted employees supporting two adult detention facilities, a juvenile detention facility, various community supervision programs, and administrative services. The two adult secure detention divisions are the Seattle Division, which operates the King County Correctional Facility (KCCF), and the Kent Division, which operates secure detention at the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC). The Juvenile Division operates secure detention facility at the Clark Children and Family Justice Center (CCFJC) in Seattle. As of July 2026, the adult jails combined housed more than 1,350 adult residents, the CCFJC housed more than 30 juvenile residents and supervised 37 juvenile clients in the community, and the Community Corrections Division had approximately 640 individuals supervised under electronic home monitoring and day reporting programs.

This position works a 40-hour work week and is overtime eligible (provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act). Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Schedule assignments are subject to staffing needs. Candidates must be available to work adjusted schedules on occasion, which may include evenings and weekends.
It is a hiring requirement that all staff employed by DAJD successfully pass a thorough background investigations process, which includes fingerprinting, criminal history check, reference checks, and other tests as deemed necessary.
Candidates for this position may be required to complete skills testing.
