Job description

Fiscal Coordinator is responsible for overseeing financial activities, managing budgets and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Essential duties, tasks and accountabilities will vary and may include the following:

  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and grant applications, including, but not limited to preparation of budget line-item spreadsheets, at the request of the Director/Deputy Director.
  • Process invoices, requisitions, purchase orders and payroll.
  • Track and analyze expenditures, identifying discrepancies or potential budget issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state grant policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with department financial liaison on creating and maintaining budget.
  • Collaborate with controllers, payroll and finance department on all budget issues.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Perform clerical tasks, when necessary (back-up receptionist, telephones, mail, etc.).
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of job-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that ensures the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Accurate and detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and proceed with objectives.
  • Ability to establish priorities and remain focused on daily operations.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct work assignments.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of County management.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, statistics, or a related field.
  • Four plus years of job-related experience, strongest preference for government roles.
  • General understanding of Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • General knowledge and understanding of County of Chester policies and procedures.

Relevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments or evaluations will be conducted after an offer of employment is given per County policy.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:

  • Intermediate Office Suite Skills, (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Explorer)
  • PeopleSoft skills (HR & Financial) or the ability to learn PeopleSoft
  • Basic Outlook skills (Email and Calendar)
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to stand; walk; bend at the waist or work bent at the waist; lift items weighing up to 15 pounds for a height of up to two feet; and taste or smell. On rare occasions, the employee will need to reach above shoulders or work with arms above shoulder height; climb approximately 13 stairs; push items weighing up to 15 pounds; and carry items weighing up to 15 pounds for a distance of up to 2 feet.
