Job summary

Xavier University’s Office of Academic Advising and Learning Support (OALS) seeks an Academic Advisor focused on first-year and at-risk undergraduates. You will provide developmental advising, assist with course planning, and help students understand degree requirements to progress toward graduation.

You collaborate with faculty, staff, and multiple campus offices to support probationary students and those needing additional academic coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Intermediate communication skills.
• Analytical skills.
• Project/process management skills.
• Computer/technical skills.
• Office administrative support skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, developmental, appreciative academic advising to 200+ current and prospective undergraduate students with specific emphasis on first-year and at-risk students.
• Provide academic support to at-risk and probationary undergraduate students in the assigned caseload.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of common outreach campaigns and assessment efforts.
• Collaborate with Faculty Advisors, Academic Departments, Career Development, Care and Support, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Life, Thrive, and other offices across Xavier University.
