Job summary

HES is a premier national provider of facilities management services focused 100% on educational institutions. J.V. Washam Elementary School in Charlotte seeks a General Cleaner for 1st shift, school hours, and part of our facilities team.

The role includes floor care, window cleaning, restroom upkeep, and light maintenance tasks. Ideal candidates read, follow directions, and demonstrate reliability; a clear background check is required.

Qualifications

• Able to read, write and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
• Willingness to learn.
• Clear criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
• Machine shampoo carpeting.
• Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
• Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans outside entrances.
• Clean restrooms, plunger sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies.
• Change interior light bulbs reachable from sixth step of a ladder or lower.
• Complete work requests to notify management of needed repairs.
• Remove snow and ice and apply salt/ice melting products as needed.
• Move, remove, and set up furniture or equipment for special functions.
• Additional duties as required by supervisor.
