Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking a 1st Shift Metal Finisher to grind, file, or sand metal surfaces and inspect finished parts. You will remove dents, smooth surfaces, and help ensure products meet specifications, all while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to use hand and power tools, and readiness to work in a production environment with safety norms observed at all times.

Qualifications

• Detail orientation and ability to multitask.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Competent at basic dimensional measuring and quick to learn precision measurement tools.
• Basic shop math proficiency.
• Overhead crane experience is desirable.
• Ability to adapt to change and work efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Examines and feels surface of metal to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.
• Removes dents using hammer and dolly block, and fills uneven surface with molten solder.
• Smooths surface of item to specified finish using hand tools and powered tools.
• Polishes metal surface with powered polishing wheel or belt when required.
• Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications using gauges and inspection sheets.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, safe condition and follows safety regulations.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
