Job summary

Fuse Energy Technologies is seeking its first dedicated Security Engineer to own security across a growing footprint, including AWS infrastructure, software development, control systems, and data pipelines. You will set strategy, standards and controls, partnering with IT to enforce them from day one.

You will work at the intersection of cloud security, DevSecOps and OT security, own incident response, and drive risk management as the company scales from our San Leandro, CA office.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a security engineering role spanning cloud security and application/DevSecOps.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Practical experience with identity security — SSO/IdP policy (Okta or equivalent).
• Experience with a security monitoring/detection platform (SIEM, EDR, or similar).
• Solid understanding of secure SDLC practices — SAST/DAST, secrets management, code review for security issues.

Responsibilities

• Own security posture for AWS infrastructure managed via Terraform and Spacelift, including IAM policy review and network segmentation.
• Partner with engineering to embed security into the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines (code scanning, dependency/vulnerability management, secure defaults).
• Assess and secure control systems and data collection infrastructure.
• Own and operate security monitoring and detection tooling; triage alerts and expand coverage over time.
• Define access-control standards in IdP and across SaaS tools; collaborate with IT on enforcement.
