Job summary

Agora in New York seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel to stand up and scale the legal function as the first dedicated lawyer after the General Counsel. You’ll own contracts, advise on regulatory considerations for digital assets, and help shape governance and financing work.

The role demands broad experience, strong judgment, and comfort with ambiguity, in a high-growth environment. Hybrid work and a competitive compensation package accompany this position.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar in good standing, preferably New York.
• 8–12 years of legal experience, mixing law firm and in‑house work.
• Broad practice across commercial contracting, regulatory/product counseling, governance, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Advise General Counsel and leadership on diverse legal matters.
• Own commercial and technology contracts, draft/negotiate vendor, partner, and customer agreements.
• Counsel on digital-asset regulatory issues and product strategy.
• Support corporate governance, board materials, and financing matters.
• Collaborate on compliance, risk, and disputes with outside counsel as needed.
• Help build and scale the legal function and playbooks.
