Job summary

Envision Education seeks a College Advisor to sustain a college going culture for all students and support seniors' application process and transition to college and careers onsite at Envision campuses in the Bay Area.

Reporting to the school Principal, the Advisor sustains a college going culture for all students, ensures that all seniors apply to at least one 4-year college, and supports students’ successful transition to college and careers.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.
  • Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies in the workplace.
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • 1+ years experience providing academic, career, and/or college mentorship/advising services to high school students
  • Once hired, continuous current California residency.
  • Demonstrated success working with parents and families, especially Black, African American, Latino/a/x, and immigrant families.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes.
  • Long term certification expectation: we expect that any candidate hired for the Advisor role is either currently enrolled in and making progress towards a PPS Certificate and/or agrees to earning their PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) within 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain a college going culture for all students and guide 12th grade students through each step of the college and financial aid application process.
  • Provide career readiness learning curriculum for advisories in all grade levels.
  • Learn about special opportunities for low income students in the college search and application process (i.e. fee waivers, fly-in visits, university partner programs and scholarships).
  • Build partnership with college admissions and career placement services.
  • Plan and lead workshops for parents and other stakeholders on key topics related to college admissions.
  • Engage in monthly self reflection and professional goal setting, including research of PPS credentialing.
