Job summary

Oak Creek Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, MD, seeks a First Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily golf course operations, staff supervision, irrigation management, and agronomy planning. The role reports to the Superintendent and maintains course aesthetics and playing conditions according to Invited standards.

The position requires a turf management degree and several years of related experience, with knowledge of budgeting, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience providing input and knowledge of budget control result expectations.
• Experience with the Spray and Irrigation Technicians, Landscape Foreman, Greens Keeper, Equipment Operator, and Mechanic roles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and staffing to meet goals.
• Approve leaves, ensure coverage, and timely timecard submissions.
• Recruit, interview, and hire staff using ATS.
• Train and supervise staff to meet quality standards.
• Manage golf course maintenance, including mowing and sprays.
• Maintain inventories of chemicals, fertilizers, and supplies.
• Assist in planning and budgeting of annual agronomy plan and expenses.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
