Job summary

Graywood Golf & Racquet Club in Lake Charles, LA seeks a Golf Operations professional to support the Director of Golf. You will engage with members, oversee golf shop activities, and lead the golf service staff while promoting golf through your own play and coaching initiatives.

The role requires PGA/PGM credentials or equivalent, with experience in private or resort golf facilities, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Golf with member golf activities and events.
  • Manage member relations with golf shop duties and opening/closing duties.
  • Lead recruitment and training for golf service staff.
  • Handle golf shop retail planning, pricing, display and sales.
  • Supervise golf cart rental fleet and driving range upkeep.
  • Oversee all golf service staff.
  • Assist Director of Instruction with women, junior and men clinics and private lessons.
  • Promote golf through personal play and practice with members.

We offer an award winning golf course and a state-of-the-art Sports Club that is unmatched in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana. The facility is located in the only Master-Planned community in Lake Charles, simply known as Graywood.

In 2020, Graywood went completely private to its 350+ full members and 500+ Sports Club members.Graywood is also equipped with a full host of amenities, from the fully-equipped pro shop to the expert instructors who are always available for lessons.

The Sports Club is unparalleled in Southwest Louisiana. We have a state of the art workout facility, 8 clay tennis courts, 2 hardcourts, and 8 recently completed Pickleball Courts. However, it's the activity at the Sports Club that defines Graywood. From Junior Tennis Camps to weekly clinics for juniors, ladies and men we have so much to offer.

Experience Required
  • PGA Member or graduate of accredited PGM program, and/or minimum PGA Golf Management Program registered associate Level 2 or higher.
  • Education: College Degree preferred, High School Graduate required
  • One year working experience with private or resort golf facility preferred or two year working experience with public golf facility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with members and guest of the affluent and leaders of SW Louisiana community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of USGA Rules and Regulations, handicapping, golf competitive formats and scoring and tournament operations.
  • Working knowledge of golf shop retail and membership sales.
  • Working knowledge of computer progams: Golf Genius, Excel and Word, with moderate networking knowledge for use of internet and POS.
  • Ability to be organized and effective with multiple workload responsibilities and daily tasks.
  • Strong playing skills with ability to teach game of golf at basic to moderate level.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist Director of Golf with all member golf related competitive activities and calendar of events.
  • Member relations services with some golf shop required time and opening/closing duties.
  • Will be lead recruiter and trainer for golf service staff.
  • Golf Shop retail planning, receiving, pricing, display and sales.
  • Supervision of Golf Cart Rental Fleet and Driving Range upkeep and maintenance.
  • Supervision of all Golf Service Staff.
  • Assist Director of Instruction with golf instruction to Women, Junior and Men's Clinics and private lessons.
  • Promote golf through your own play and practice with members.
Minimum requirements
  • Ability to work early morning hours, and late evening hours all days of the week.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Benefits
  • Salary Base: $17.50 to $20.00.
  • Benefit package to include: vacation, with holiday and sick paid time off, competitive insurance and daily meal while working, and personal use of golf facilities.
