Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/APRN) to support a cardiothoracic surgeon as a surgical first assistant in the operating room. This role requires collaboration, independent clinical decision-making, and adherence to supervision agreements.

You will perform invasive procedures, participate in patient care quality initiatives, and comply with state laws and delineation of privileges. A Master’s degree and certification are required, with strong teamwork and safety focus

  • Master’s degree required, BLS certification, NCCPA certification (PA) or national certification for APRN.
  • Supervision agreement or standard care arrangement with a physician.
  • Active licensure and ability to practice under state laws and delineation of privileges.

Job Description Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) including Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), work in collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgeon in the hospital-based operating room, serving as a surgical first assist. Performs invasive procedures and requires a high level of independent clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Works under direction and in consultation/collaboration with physician and may perform services authorized by the supervising/collaborating physician that are part of the physician’s normal course of practice and expertise. Promotes quality outcomes and initiatives. Must have a Supervision Agreement (SA) or Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) with a physician in like practice. Practices within applicable state laws, appropriate boards, and in accordance with his/her/their SA/SCA and delineation of privileges.
