Job summary

Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) seeks an experienced attorney to litigate strategic First Amendment cases. The role involves developing cases through all litigation stages, with opportunities for media appearances, writing, and public speaking.

The position reports to the Chief Supervising Attorney, collaborates with attorneys and staff, and requires travel approximately 20% with this nationwide scope.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have 6+ years of civil-litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Litigate strategic First Amendment cases in support of FIRE’s mission.
• Identify matters for potential litigation; recruit and vet potential plaintiffs.
• Draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and related documents.
• Direct discovery strategies and review discovery requests and responses.
• Attend hearings, trials, and other proceedings; work with paralegals and vendors.
