Job summary

Hydro BioScience, LLC is looking for a seasoned Firmware Design Engineer to work in Piney Flats, TN. You'll be responsible for the development, maintenance, and organization of firmware for Cortex-M microcontrollers. The role involves hands-on experience with Free‑RTOS and various debugging tools.

Candidates must have a post-secondary education in Software/Computer or Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of programming experience. Relocation to the Tri-Cities area is necessary for applicants.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

Diversified Power International LLC, a Piney Flats TN based business is seeking a seasoned Firmware Design Engineer responsible for the development, maintenance and organization of firmware used in Cortex‑M microcontrollers embedded processor product designs.

May consider temporary work from remote on contractual basis.

Responsibilities

• Development of microcontroller firmware using various tools including ANSI‑C, C++, assembler, Python, JTAG and IDE programs
• Hands‑on experience with Free‑RTOS, ARM Cortex and STMicro IDE tools (3 years required)
• Design, prototype, debug digital circuitry with PWM and analog A/D inputs
• Strong motor controller or power distribution firmware related design
• Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers to plan product development
• Drive selection and integration of I/O interface hardware, chipsets, and communication protocols including RS‑232/485, I2C, SPI, Wireless
• Manage and document code, code revisions, code development plans
• Provide management with weekly progress reports and improvement updates

Qualifications

• Completion of a post‑secondary education in Software/Computer and/or Electrical Engineering
• Proven background working with communication protocols including I2C, SPI, CAN, UART
• Demonstrable analytical, electrical and embedded design skills
• Strong real‑time MCU debugging skills
• Demonstrable communications, project and people management skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Electrical circuitry knowledge/background is an asset
• Digital control of power supply design knowledge/background is an asset
• Working experience with DAVE and Keil is an asset
• Working experience with STM32Cube IDE environment is a must
• iPhone and Android app development is an asset
• Experience with event/task‑driven software development, Linux, Shell/Python and software control such as GIT, Java is an asset
• Minimum of 3 years programming experience

Must live in or agree to relocate to Tri‑Cities, eastern Tennessee area.
